The illustrations are adorable as well. There is something so universal about the situation of wanting to be close to our most loved ones that is so tenderly captured in these remarkably intuitive scenes.

The monkey looked around, wanting a hug. It is truly a wonderful book about love, affection, and the bond between parent and child. By having the chimp gug a multitude of animals for a hug, Alborough draws a parallel to the human inhibition alboorugh seek affection. I would strongly recommend this book to every new parent! So many board books are far too advanced with too many words for our youngest children, but this one is absolutely perfect.
He wonders around the jungle trying to get hugs from all kinds of jungle animals and notices that every animal he asks already have someone to hug, but unfortunately for Bobo no hugs for him. I checked out this book for “H” week in Kinder, and I think albirough will love learning how the familiar word is written and quickly start on their path toward reading books, with this book.
Even so the momentum of the book, combined with the lavish illustrations, still manage to tell a wonderful tale. He travels and adventures around the jungle in search of alboroigh from all types of different animals, however, he notices that each animal he meets already has someone to hug.

As an educator I could launch into the value this book has alboroguh building emergent literacy, because the words are simple and sparse, and the illustrations are big and beautiful. Hug is my all time favorite picture book.
An elephant comes to his aid and helps guide the young chimpanzee through his adventure; which ultimately ends with unification of the jungle. I don’t know what it is about this book since the only words written in it are “Hug”, “Bobo” and “Mama” but my very verbal and very avid 22 month gug reader love this book.
