Fragile Brilliance by Tammy Blackwell – Fang-Freakin-Tastic Reviews

By the second day of college, Maggie McCray was already bored with naked people.

As in that series, the biggest strength to me here is in the precisely rendered setting and well crafted dialog.

Jan 01, Anya rated it really liked it. Fragile Brilliance by Tammy Blackwell is the start of a new series set in the same world as her Timber Wolves books. This means more awesome werewolves, werecoyotes, and Seers, plus new characters and college: I like that Blackwell is branching out from her original style and I think that Fragile Brilliance will appeal to YA readers looking for more Fragile Brilliance by Tammy Blackwell is the start of a new series set in the same world as her Timber Wolves books.

I like that Blackwell is branching out from her original style and I think that Fragile Brilliance will appeal to YA readers looking for more of a paranormal romance feel with witty writing and female characters with backbones shocking right?? I received Fragile Brilliance from the author in exchange for an honest review. I read an advanced copy and some things might be different in the final version.

Fammy is our new MC and I loved her so much. She has her own fashion style, loves her grandmother, is an amazing artist, and, oh yeah, has magic powers: While at first he freaked me out a bit, I quickly transitioned to wishing so badly that I could help him somehow. Blackwell captured the profound lack of emotions that goes along with deep depression quite well.

Mwahahaha, just wait. Brillinace and Maggie felt like friends of mine and at times I just wanted to lock them in a room together, but it was that connection that made me happy to boot up my eReader and sink a brillianfe more hours into their story each night. Maggie is a very different character than Scout and I loved cheering her on.

Scout is of course in Fragile Brilliance as a side character and she still is always able to entertain me. I freaking love ceramics for the record. When I realized that Maggie was a ceramics specialist, there might have been some bouncing. Fragile Brilliance is much more of a romance story than the Timber Wolves series was, so just be warned that it has a different feel than those previous books. Frsgile get kind of annoyed when all the characters are beautiful…. Is this a shifter and seer thing?

Fragile Brilliance is blackwel, excellent paranormal romance in that it has a romance-heavy plot but fragi,e introduces us to new aspects bbrilliance this world and has a deep and disturbing mystery to solve. Definitely pick up Fragile Brilliance if you enjoyed the Timber Wolves series, but be in the mood for a romance.

Nov 24, Nicole Hewitt rated it really liked it Shelves: While the story was compelling and the paranormal world was intriguing, it was really the characters and the romance that made this a fantastic read. The synopsis describes the book well, so I’ll skip right to what I did and didn’t enjoy.

Fragile Brilliance by Tammy Blackwell

Not a lot of paranormal activity. For a paranormal romance, there actually isn’t a ton of parano 4. For a paranormal romance, there actually isn’t a ton of paranormal in Fragile Brilliance.

Luckily, I was so wrapped up in the relationship that was building between Charlie and Maggie that honestly didn’t mind the lack of paranormal happenings. Not really book 1 in the series. Okay, I have to say that this can definitely be read without having read Blackwell’s other books. I actually didn’t realize that this series was connected to another series until I went to go write this review.

Knowing that, though, I feel a little teensy bit cheated. I definitely think I would have had a deeper understanding of the Shifters and Seers if I had read the Timber Wolves series first – I just bought the whole trilogy so I can read it now! I was thoroughly enchanted with both Charlie and Maggie throughout this entire book. Maggie has an artistic spirit. She’s passionate about her art and serious about her future and she’s not going to let a silly little death threat get in her way.

Charlie is equally focused, but his only goal is to keep the Alpha Pack safe. Charlie has been through so much pain in his life that he has completely turned off his emotions. I absolutely loved Charlie and Maggie together. I spent the entire book waiting for Maggie to completely break through Charlie’s shell.

I have to admit that I was a bit worried at first that this was going to be another case of instalove – there was definitely an instant attraction between Charlie and Maggie that bordered on being a little too much.
